Recovery¶
Recovery, pinned in the sidebar, is a page for the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous: the readings people come back to, the book itself by its chapters, and prayers. It's built from your own copy in Calibre, so everything on it opens in Daf's reader, and the time counts like any other book.
It's private, the same as the books on it: none of it shows up in the daily review, the Signal messages, the nightstand or on the Kindle.
The readings¶
The first card is the Step 10 and Step 11 passages: Continue to take personal inventory (page 84), On awakening (page 86) and When we retire at night (page 86). The one that fits the time of day comes first, with a dot: On awakening in the morning, When we retire at night in the evening. Tap one and the Big Book opens at that passage.
The Big Book¶
The book's card has your progress and Continue, which opens at the chapter you're in, with its page. Under it are three tabs:
- First 164 pages: The Doctor's Opinion and chapters 1 to 11, each with the page it starts on in the Fourth Edition and how much of it you've read.
- Stories: the personal stories, under Pioneers of A.A., They Stopped in Time and They Lost Nearly All.
- Appendices.
A chapter opens at its start. The book's page has its highlights, notes and details.
Prayers¶
The Serenity Prayer and the Eleventh Step prayer (St. Francis) are written out on the page. The Third Step and Seventh Step prayers show their first line and open in the book on page 63 and page 76.
Highlights and more¶
Your highlights shows the latest three from the Big Book, each opening at its spot, and All goes to the rest. More to read lists the other A.A. books in your library, like the Plain Language Big Book.
Without a Big Book in Calibre, the page says how to add one.
