Seeding¶
The fewer people seed something, the more I give back. Borer looks at the swarm every five minutes and sets each torrent's own limit in Transmission, so Transmission does the stopping itself, and a swarm that grows or shrinks moves the limit with it.
"2.7×" is how far it's seeded, and "1.3× / 50×" is how far and where it stops.
The tiers¶
| Other seeders | Seeds until it's uploaded |
|---|---|
| under 10 | 50 times its size |
| 10 to 49 | 30 times |
| 50 to 99 | 10 times |
| 100 or more | twice, and that's it |
"Other seeders" is the best count any of its trackers gives, not counting me. The tiers are on Settings.
What it leaves alone¶
- Private trackers have their own rules, so their torrents keep them ("Private").
- Anything I set myself, in Transmission or on the page, stays the way I set it ("Mine"). Rules on the page puts it back on the tiers.
- Anything that was already seeding forever before Borer was here.
What happens at the limit¶
When something Radarr or Sonarr grabbed reaches its limit, they remove it from Transmission, files and all, within seconds, because Remove Completed is on in both. The library keeps its own copy, since downloads and media are on separate disks.
Everything else (manga, things I added by hand) only stops, and sits under Seeding as "Done" until I delete it.
Done doesn't mean safe to delete¶
Something I added by hand and never filed has no other copy, even when it looks done with, and I've lost something that way. So Borer checks every finished torrent against the library. A file that was copied into the library keeps its exact size, so a match is the same file under a new name. One it can't find is marked "Not in library", and one it finds only some of is "Partly in library".
Delete on one of those asks again, and says it's the only copy. It only knows the files, not the film, so a different release of the same thing in the library still shows as not in it.
