The screenshots in these docs were taken from a sealed sandbox: a copy of Binah running from this repository on a fresh state folder, with a throwaway login, never anyone's real copy. Nothing in them comes from a private library.
The passages¶
Every passage, sentence and scene in the screenshots is in the public domain, taken from these Project Gutenberg editions:
- Henry David Thoreau, Walden (1854) and On the Duty of Civil Disobedience (1849), Gutenberg ebook #205: "Where I Lived, and What I Lived For", "Solitude", "Economy", and the passage on law and conscience.
- John Stuart Mill, On Liberty (1859), Gutenberg ebook #34901: on silencing an opinion (chapter II) and on choosing a plan of life (chapter III).
- Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Self-Reliance", in Essays: First Series (1841), Gutenberg ebook #2944.
- Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice (1813), Gutenberg ebook #1342: the opening lines and chapters I and II.
- Abraham Lincoln, the Gettysburg Address (1863), Gutenberg ebook #4.
Everything else¶
- The Technique or Fair Move? items and the Just a Minute topics are the repository's own
content/files (MIT). - The answer keys, the padded sentences in Cut the Bloat, the near-synonym choices, the verdicts, the answers and revisions, the ratings and their history, the golden-set scores, the benchmark forms and sittings, and the Just a Minute transcript were all made up for these screenshots. The demo benchmark form is shorter than a real one (16 steps instead of 30).
- No voice was recorded. The Just a Minute recording screen ran on a silent stand-in microphone, and its result was staged in the sandbox.
- No grading call reached Claude. A stand-in for the Claude CLI answered the sandbox with the verdicts written for these screenshots, in the same format the real one returns.
The fonts in the screenshots are the app's own (Newsreader for passages and Frank Ruhl Libre for the Hebrew mark, SIL Open Font License), with Inter standing in for the system font (San Francisco on a Mac, Roboto on Android) and Noto Sans Mono for the monospaced one.
