All the fun¶
Jewber is supposed to be FUNNY, but I didn't want any of it to be just decoration. Here's every gimmick in one place, and what each one actually does.
For everyone¶
- The ride types: Schlep, Mensch, Shhh, Bubbe, Simcha, Chutzpah, Shadchan, Mishpacha. Each has its own price, and I see a hint for each one ("Ask about their love life"). Chutzpah really does jump my queue.
- Ratings: Oy, Nu, Fine, Mensch, Tzaddik, shown as Stars of David.
- Compliments: for me, "Great schmooze", "Mensch with the bags", "Drove like Bubbe", "Kosher playlist", "Car smelled like challah", "On Jewish time", "Shortcut genius" and "Fed me". For my friends, "Ready on time", "Brought snacks", "Tipped in rugelach" and "Didn't kvetch".
- Ghostwrite it: writes a funny review for whatever rating you gave, like "Found parking on the first try. Moshiach must be close." Tap again for another.
- Jewish Standard Time: next to the real minutes, a second number for how long it'll REALLY take.
- While Jewber asks me: lines like "It's always Dovid", "Dovid is looking for his keys", "Davening for green lights".
- During the ride: Bubbe rides get "Did you eat?" and "Wear a sweater". Shadchan rides get "A doctor. Well, almost a doctor." Mishpacha rides get "Everyone buckled? Count the kids."
- Kvetch: one tap for "Too hot", "The music", "Drove like a Tel Aviv cab" or "Smells like cholent". I get it, and I feel terrible.
- Sounds: a shofar when I accept your ride, and a chime when I'm outside (made right on the phone, no recordings). You can turn them off in Account.
- Arriving: a burst of gold and blue Stars of David, in holiday colors on holidays.
- The logo: tap it three times.
- Hebrew and Israeli: "Sababa" when you book, "Toda raba" when you pay, "Amen" for a bracha, and a little Israeli flag next to Waze, since Waze is from Israel.
The money ones¶
- Babka, Shabbos meal, Mitzvah: real ways to pay, kept in the ledger like money.
- Brachot as tips: a list of blessings, and I keep the ones I get.
- Round up for tzedakah: the extra cents go in a jar in my ledger, until I give it.
- Chai rides: every 18th ride is free.
The calendar ones¶
Closing for Shabbat and Yom Tov, the Hebrew date, the parsha, and a look for every holiday are all in Shabbat and the calendar.
