Signing the guestbook

The guestbook is the page at https://stuffs.tiresia.xyz/guestbook/, and signing it takes about a minute. You don't need an account, and nothing about you is kept except what you type in.

The boxes

Name and Message are the two you have to fill in. The name can be your real one or whatever you go by online, up to 40 characters, and the message can be up to 600, which is a few friendly sentences. The little number in the corner of the message box counts down as you type.

Where are you from? is optional and can be anything: a town, a country, "the internet". Your website is optional too. If you put one in, your name in the book becomes a link to it. It has to start with http:// or https:// (the page adds https:// for you if you leave it off), and the message itself can have one link at most.

The doodle pad

The box on the right is a tiny canvas, 96 by 48 pixels, shown big so it's easy to draw on. Pick a colour, then draw with your finger, a pencil or the mouse. eraser takes pixels away and clear starts over. Each pixel is a square, which means everything comes out looking like an old video game, and that's the fun of it. You don't have to draw anything; an entry without a doodle is just as welcome.

After you sign

When you press Sign it, you'll see "Thank you! Your note will show up here once I've had a look." Your entry goes to me first and shows up in the book as soon as I let it in, which is usually the same day. I do this because guestbooks without it fill up with spam, and this way the book stays a nice place.

If you get "That was quick!", the page thinks a robot is signing because it happened within a few seconds of the page opening. Wait a moment and press it again. Three entries an hour from one place is the limit, which is plenty for people and not much for robots.

The book

Under the window is the book: everyone who signed, newest first, with their doodle, where they're from and the date. Older entries at the bottom shows the next thirty. The odometer at the top counts visitors, once per browser per day, and nothing about you is stored for it.

Basically, write something nice, draw something small, and check back later to see it in the book.
